Horsetail Tea Benefits have been studied and analyzed for a long time. Known by various names such as equisetum arvense, scouring rush, shavegrass, and field horsetail, the horsetail plant and herb are known diuretics. The horsetail likewise has been known as a sedative and anti-convulsing. So prized is horsetail in the days of old that it has become known to be "irreplaceably priceless".

The horsetail is a perennial plant that has dark green hollow, joined or segmented stems with no leaves. The horsetail can usually be found in wet areas and has a large amount of silicon crystals (or sand) in its tissue. The sand content in horsetail is the most abundant of any plant, and it is commonly used to polish tin ware

Aside from silicates, horsetail is likewise abundant in potassium, aluminum, and manganese, as well as a variety of flavonoids.
The above-ground parts of the plant are used for herbal and healing purposes. However, avoidance of horsetail is recommended for those with kidney stones and congestive heart failure and those taking an ACE inhibitor for high blood pressure. Pregnant women should also avoid using horsetail tea.

Horsetail tea is usually made to derive the healing properties of the plant. Horsetail tea is prepared by pouring boiled water over 2 to 3 grams of horsetail herb, boiling for five minutes, and then straining after 10 to 15 minutes. It is recommended that this be drank during the day between meals. The following health benefits have been attributed to horsetail tea :

  • Horsetail Tea helps to increase urinary flow and thus help flush bacteria from the bladder
  • Horsetail Tea may help strengthen bones and cartilage, and thus may be helpful in the fight against arthritis and osteoporosis

  • Horsetail Tea may help stimulate blood flow
  • Connective tissue strengthening and support (joint, ligaments and muscles)
  • B one strengthening and support through enhanced calcium absorption within bone, silica is the essential component making up the collagen matnx upcn which calcium is deposited This relationship is so ftndamental tlat it is truly impossible to form bone without both calcium and silica. In fact, researchers are exploring the possibility tlat supplementation of silica, rather than calcium may be what is needed for maintaining strong bones.
  • Strengthening ofteeth and gums
  • Cardiovascular support; Silica in adequate quantities creates supple arteries and veins and is effective in removing plaque from artery walls. This has actually been known since 1958 when Loeperand Loeper found arteriosclerotic artery walls showed excessively highlevels ofcalcium andlowerthannormal levels ofin silica.
  • Stomach and digestive disorders : Most disorders ofthe stomach and digestive tract involve a degradation ofthe lining in the G. I. tract. Silica is an essential element involved in rebuilding and maintaining these tissues.
  • Immune system enhancement: Our skin is our first line of defense against naturally occurring bacteria, virus's, and other pathogens. Silica promotes and maintains healthy skin tissue.
  • Wound and burn healing: Silica stimulates the rapid re-growth of damaged skin tissue.
  • Thinning lair, brittle nails, and dry skin All ofthese external parts of our bodyare collagen based
  • Horse tail Silicon is indeed a very common mineral tlat is required by our bodies. We use it, along with calcium, to growand maintain strong bones. It is also important to the formation of connective tissues, like ligaments and tendons. Horse Tail Silicon is also important for the growth ofhair, skin and Hngemails. Unfortunately, despite the fact that silicon is important to the human body, there is comparatively little being done to learn more about why and exactly howit is important for good health.

It is possible that Horse tail silicon is iniuential in preventing veins and arteries Hcom getting hard and stiff, though there is no clear understanding ofhowthis element affects aiteryhardening. Also, it is known that siliccn reduces the effectiveness ofaluminum in the body. It has been suggested that silicon may be able to delay or prevent Aldieimef s disease. But once again, it is unclear how silicon may affect this degenerative disease of the brain. A form of silicon is actually a home remedy for problems with weakening bones, painful joints and aging skin, though there is no clear evidence that it actually helps such ccnditions. Aside from silicates, horestail is likewise abundant in potassium, aluminum, and managanese, as well as a variety of flavonoid.
