http://www.thesuperfoodco.co.uk/images/stinging-nettle-tea.jpgNettle Tea's traditional medicinal properties have been valued for centuries but most importantly, Nettle Tea is delicious!

Nettles contain a number of important antihistamines, so nettle tea can be taken to ease the symptoms of hayfever, rashes and other allergic reactions, including the effects of insect bites. Nettle tea is also often suggested for sufferers of arthritis and gout, as it helps to reduce levels of uric acid in the body. It is also excellent for detoxifying the body and as a general tonic – great if you have a hangover!

Nettles contain high quantities of iron and vitamins and are often recommended in cases of anaemia, and as a natural dietary supplement. Nettles have a reputation of being nutritious and also detoxifying. Nettle Tea is thus a good general tea to use every day.

To use: Place one teaspoon of tea per person into a warmed pot or mug infuser and add hot water. Allow to steep for 5 minutes, or longer if a strong infusion is required, then strain into mugs. A little honey or other natural sweeteners can be added if desired.
